Algorithm settings

MODE

The Big Move Algo has two modes of operation: AUTO and MANUAL.

  • AUTO MODE - The algorithm will automatically select the best settings for all algorithm parameters. (If you are a beginner or don't want to delve into setting the algorithm manually, use AUTO MODE).

  • MANUAL MODE - Manually select the preferred settings for one, several or all algorithm parameters. All algorithm settings are explained below. (If you are advanced or if you want to manually control or test various setting parameters - use MANUAL MODE).

ONLY IN AUTO MODE

AUTO MODE is designed to be simple, so there is only 1 setting parameter here:

Your Trading Style:

  • Dynamic Signals - in this mode you will get the most frequent, shortest, earliest and least certain signals of all AUTO MODES. This mode will detect profitable trade the fastest, but signals may be false.

  • Balanced Signals - in this mode you will get moderately frequent, long, early and certain signals. This is the medium mode of all AUTO MODES.

  • Safe Signals - in this mode you will get the least frequent, longest, latest and most certain signals of all AUTO MODES. This mode will detect the best profitable trade, but the signal may be late.

ONLY IN MANUAL MODE

MANUAL MODE is designed to adjust the algorithm to you as much as possible and to make it work exactly as you want.

Entry Length - this parameter determines based on how much past data, the algorithm generates entry signals. Smaller values will generate more, shorter, less certain, but early signals, while larger values will generate fewer, longer, more certain, but later signals.

Entry Smooth - this parameter determines how much of the data used to generate for Entry Signals should be smoothed. Smaller values will generate more, shorter, less certain, but early signals, while larger values will generate fewer, longer, more certain, but later signals.

Exit Length - this parameter determines based on how much past data, the algorithm generates exit signals. Smaller values will generate more, shorter, less certain, but early signals, while larger values will generate fewer, longer, more certain, but later signals.

Exit Value - this parameter determines the sensitivity of Exit Signals generating. Smaller values of this parameter generate fewer Exit Signals, and larger values generate more Exit Signals.

Fake Trend Detector - this parameter determines the sensitivity of false trend detection. Smaller values of this parameter recognize fewer candles as a false trend, and larger values recognize more candles as a false trend.

You can try different settings of this algorithm by clicking "Big Move Algo" at the left-top corner of the TradingView chart window.

When to buy, sell, exit?

There is no single, correct, determined way of using Big Move Algo and interpreting its signals, but most Big Move Algo Traders use them this way:

"Long" signal (green candle) - open a long position / close a short position if any open. (uptrend may begin)

"Short" signal (red candle) - open a short position / close a long position if any open. (downtrend may begin)

"Take Profit" signal (yellow candle) - close current trend position. (trend may stop or reverse)

Fake Trend Detection (gray candle) -close all and don't open new positions (trend is no longer identifiable)

For higher trade certainty, it is recommended to confirm signals using other trading methods (e.g. price action, candlestick patterns, chart patterns, fundamental analysis).

Why "Take Profit" signal didn't appear / appeared more than once?

Big Move Algo generates a "Take Profit" signal at the place where the trend can potentially end or reverse, so sometimes it can detect several such potential places during one trend, and sometimes it may not detect any during the entire trend (in such situation, a signal of the opposite direction to the current one can be considered as a trend stop).

No "Take Profit" signal does not mean that the trade was not won.
